04/01/2012--His Sovereign Majesty composed a letter to the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust today, on the occasion of the conviction of his murders, 18 years after the event. The text of the letter read:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my profound relief that those responsible for the despicable murder of Stephen Lawrence, 18 years ago, have finally been brought to justice, and that now Mr. Lawrence's family, friends and admirers will be able to start to heal their deep wounds and look to the future. The ambitions of the Stephen Lawrence Trust to strive for social justice and change for the young people of the world are exceedingly noble and make their presence extremely important in the community.

We at the Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia fully support the work of the Trust, and will be following its work closely to build similar programmes within our own nation and community, to help youth find a path, and to bring to an end the terrible divisions that plague humanity.

06/12/2011--FIRST CITY--Dexter O'Connell, President of the Electoral Commission of Kemetia released the official results from last week's Prime Ministerial and Parliamentary elections. Last Friday, a gathering was held at the Kemetian Embassy, Chicago, attended by members of the Parliament, other officials and friends, who enjoyed canapés and mulled wine while listening to the announcement.

This election season has proven to be most interesting and turbulent, truly changing the face of Kemetian politics and policy. While originally only two parties were confirmed to be in the running for the Senatorial elections, a third declared itself to the Commission only hours before the polls closed, leading to an extension of voting, as well as a new party in the Parliament.

The eight members of the Upper House, the Advisory Council, were all confirmed by the People, although Councilor Lori Ossip of the Conservative Party was rejected by 4% of the vote, and Councilor Ciaran Yeo of the Liberal Party by 7%. Since both these Councilors won over half of the vote, they were confirmed regardless. The new Advisory Council is comprised of Independent Sir Alexander Cole, Ciaran Yeo of the Liberal Party, Johansen Amin of the Expansionist Party, Shawnteal Peery of the Liberal Socialist Party, Lori Ossip of the Conservative Party, Arran Marais-Gilchrist of the Liberal Party, Lachlan Marais-Gilchrist of the Liberal Party and Maksymilian Fus-Mickiewicz of the Liberal Party. The two vacant seats, created by late withdrawal of two candidates, shall be filled at the opening of the Parliamentary session in the new year.

Senatorial elections were hard fought between the incumbent Liberal Party of Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies and the new Expansionist Party of Johansen Amin. Additionally, the Kemetian Farmer Labor Party made a strong performance.

In short statements before the announcement of the results, the party leaders reaffirmed and explained more fully their positions. The Liberals continued to run on their platform of past success, basing their claim to power on their exemplary track record and dedication to popular rights, as explained by President of the Electoral Commission Dexter O'Connell, who stood in for Mr. Lloyd-Davies who was unable to attend the event due to duties elsewhere.

Johansen Amin of the Expansionist Party set forth his ideas for governance in a carefully prepared manifesto, which espoused a break from the traditional state-driven principles of the Lloyd-Davies Administration and advocated a system based on true individual rule and belief in sovereignty, focusing on cultural creation and self-determination.

James LaRocque, chairman of the Kemetian Farmer Labor Party, explained to the assembled that the only way to realize true growth of the nation would be to concentrate on the establishment of agrarian credentials for the nation, with an emphasis on green space and farming-based advancement.

The Senatorial elections proved exceedingly surprising for observers, who had expected the Liberals to continue their past victories. In the end, the Expansionist Party came out on top, winning 51.9% of the vote and 10 seats in the Senate, followed by the Liberal Party with 37% and eight seats. The KFLP won only 11.1% of the vote, but still managed to secure 2 seats in Parliament.

Shortly after the announcement, the Expansionists and the KFLP formed a voting bloc within the Senate, and it is expected that a formal announcement of the coalition will be announced shortly.

Even with his defeat in the Senate, Lloyd-Davies still managed to be elected Prime Minister for another 2-year terms, showing continued commitment on the part of the people to the traditional members of the Kemetian political establishment. If Lloyd-Davies serves his term in full, he will have been consistently reelected for 8 years, and become the second longest serving member of the government, after the King himself.

Election Process Underway

21/11/2011--FIRST CITY--The government has announced today the formal preparations for the December 1st Parliamentary and Prime Ministerial elections. The Electoral Commission has been vigorously encouraging citizens to become involved, and has released several key forms.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Constitutional Court (SCC) selected names from a list of prospective members of the Advisory Council for approval by the People on December 1st. Johansen Amin, Minister of Research and Development, has been confirmed as the only candidate to respond to the request by the SCC so far, and was very enthusiastic about the prospect of election to the Upper House.

"My goals will be oriented towards creating and developing self-sustaining culture within the Kemetian community that will offer more legitimacy and recognition to our nation", Mr. Amin said earlier in a candidate statement to the Electoral Commission. He added that "it goes without saying that I will also seek to advise our Monarch on the nation's affairs whenever possible."

Mr. Amin, a citizen of the Kingdom for some years, presents an interesting technocratic alternative to the mainstream party-political candidates, himself not affiliated with any party and an expert in medicine.

The Kemetia Tribune is looking forward to a lively campaign season and the upcoming Prime Ministerial debates. No candidates have yet declared themselves, although it is highly likely that Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies will run for re-election.

The Electoral Commission today released this form, allowing citizens to form a political party to be included on the ballot for the Senate and Prime Ministerial elections. As always, citizens shall choose from a list of parties, rather than candidates, to fill the 20-seat Senate, with parties selecting candidates to fill those seats at a later date. It has not been announced as yet when the forms for registering to run for the Prime Ministry will be released.

Supreme Constitutional Court Formed

CHICAGO--06/11/2011--This evening, the Supreme Constitutional Court was officially formed for its five year term. The five new Justices to take their seats in the Court are the first under the new Constitution, and will be instrumental in interpreting the document in its early years of implementation.

Five citizens, randomly selected, form the Court, which is the final authority on all constitutional matters and disputes. While the Court has been partially constituted for some time, it was not until today allowed to take its full powers, with the addition of the fifth Justice Josh E. Amelia. He will join Chief Justice Sir Nicho Kelly, Justice Julia Nee, Justice Kaitlyn Fryzek, and Justice Charles Hughes as a Supreme Constitutional Court Justice.

Justice Fryzek was pleased to welcome Justice Amelia to the Court. "His selection allows for the correct functioning of our arm of government and opens a new chapter in Kemetian history, with a fully operational Judiciary." "We are so very happy to welcome Justice Amelia to our ranks, and hope his insights will be helpful in shaping Kemetian legal doctrine" commented Justice Nee.

FIRST CITY--15/09/2011--Relations between the Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia and the Republic of Croatia were strengthened today with an exchange of information regarding local governance in the Republic. His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I received the information this morning, which included detailed descriptions of Croatian subdivisions and the governance of those regions.

The Government is expected to review the local government structure of Croatia to aid in its quest to provide accountable and citizen-focused local government, which will eventually lead to a greater union of nations and humanity.

This is the second such correspondence with Croatia, establishing the nations as friends, even if official recognition has not been given by either one.

King Arrives in United Kingdom for Tour

18/08/2011--LONDON--His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I has arrived in London for a ten day tour of the capital of the United Kingdom and Edinburgh, Scotland, during which he will meet with members of the Royal Family and government officials. His Sovereign Majesty will be having conversations with senior members of the Kemetian Royal Family on their role in government and charitable organizations, as well as with the Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies of the Liberal Party, covering subjects ranging from the current financial crisis to the support of Scottish independence.

Today, the King will be travelling to Oxford to visit the Ashmolean Museum and the "Heracles to Alexander the Great" exhibit on the treasures from the ancient capital of Macedon, which has been organised by the Prime Minister of Greece and the Greek Government. King Adam I is looking forward to inspecting the objects of this ancient civilization and is interested in how they may inform the Kemetian civilization in its goals and ideals.

Economic Downturn Hits the Kingdom

08/08/2011--FIRST CITY--Stock markets around the world fell today as the effects of Standard & Poor's downgrade of the United States was truly felt. In Kemetia, government assets invested in international markets took a severe hit, damaging the government's portfolio and financial strength.

Shares held in numerous institutions by the Government caused an overall loss of 32.72% of government resources, completely wiping out gains made earlier this year. Such a fall is estimated to amount to upwards of 1800 Db in losses, a large amount not expected to be made up any time soon, according to economic analysts.

Kemetia has managed to remain relatively unscathed by the financial crisis, due to the Kingdom's lack of a stock market and the government's choice to hold most of its assets in cash rather than equities. The Foreign Market Portfolio, officially held by the Privy Purse, has come to serve as a source for some government income, although it is not a major generator of wealth. It is unclear whether the Portfolio will remain a viable avenue for meeting expenditure given the current economic climate.

The government has so far not commented on the situation, and the absence of Finance Minister creates an awkward situation for the Lloyd-Davies Administration in this time of financial peril. His Sovereign Majesty's office told the Tribune that it was looking into the possibility of liquidating the Portfolio and moving into a more solid investment, such as gold or silver.

Letters Exchanged with Croatia

Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor acknowledged receipt of the government's message, in which its commitment to local governance, democracy and cooperation was outlined in detail, as well as the possibility for partnerships between the countries in the future.

The Prime Minister of Croatia also notified the Government that she had forwarded the letter to the Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandrokovic, for further consideration.

Royal Kemetian Foundation Inaugurated

20/07/2011--FIRST CITY--Today, it has been announced by the Royal Court that a charitable organization has been formed by His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I, which will allocate funds to non-profit organizations across the globe. The Royal Kemetian Foundation (RKF) has been established with the express purpose of relieving suffering and hardship, and will be directly managed from the Royal Court.

To date, the RKF has donated only to one project, the The Kidney TRUST, a charity supported by Justice Julia Nee of the Supreme Constitutional Court. The TRUST is committed to reducing chronic kidney disease through screening and financial assistance. A generous donation of 96.5 Db ($25) was given to the charity, which it is hoped will go some way to helping these initiatives.

Ministry of Culture Unveils New Projects

28/06/2011--CHICAGO--In an announcement today, the Minister of Culture Sir Alexander Cole revealed that his ministry has initiated several projects to improve the cultural life of the Kingdom, as well as the well-being of its citizens.

"Primarily, we'll be focusing on projects that fully involve all citizens, regardless of whether they live in the central homeland or overseas territories", Minister Cole said from his office in Chicago. "I want to bring Kemetian culture to all people at the grassroots level, through a series of festivals and free art that would be accessible to everyone, even non-Kemetians."

Cole went on to detail the project he was constructing, to be held simultaneous in all territories of the Kingdom. "We're hoping to be able to coordinate with local government authorities to bring Culture Days to several areas, including the Capital. During these events, several stalls would be set up, providing representations of the local arts of that particular part of the Kingdom."

"We would also be including street artists, and other free mediums so that whomever comes to visit the event could enjoy its contents."

Currently, the project is in the planning stages, and funding is being gained from a variety of sources. Due to the Recession, the Government has been tightening its purse-strings, but it is hoped that a combination of public funding and donations will be adequate to make the event possible.

Kemetian Independence Day: 6 Years On

04/05/2011--FIRST CITY/CHICAGO--Celebrations were held today throughout the Kingdom on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the nation. Six years on, the Kingdom boasts hundreds of citizens from across the globe, and solidarity with the country was shown through communal gatherings and merrymaking.

The King hosted an event at the Kemetian Consulate in Chicago, which was attended by many notable individuals, including the King himself, the Chief Justice Sir Nicholas Kelly, Justices Julia Nee and Kaitlyn Fryzek, Minister of Agriculture Nicholas Bailey, Minister of Culture Alexander Cole, Director of Communications Alicia Graf and the President of the Electoral Commission Dexter O'Connell.

In some brief remarks, His Sovereign Majesty outlined his commitment to democracy distinct and more liberal than currently articulated forms of that ideology, and also cautioned listeners not to be deceived by autocrats in liberal clothing. The evening proceeded with the serving of many Kemetian delicacies and convivial exchanges.

The King also took this occasion to make it known that he had enter talks with Antigua and Barbuda earlier this week, and that the Legal Affairs Department of that country was currently deliberating how to proceed with the Kemetia question.

Attack on Central Bank Files Defeated

25/05/2011--FIRST CITY--The Government of Kemetia has today revealed that in the early hours of 17th May, intruders managed to bypass the security system of the Kemetian Web Portal and upload illegal materials onto the server containing the operating system and data of the Central Bank. No bank accounts were compromised, and all information has been kept confidential and sound, according to security personnel now assigned to the Central Bank.

His Sovereign Majesty is said to be extremely perturbed by his own late notification of the security breach, telling his associates that he was only informed this morning by an independent security firm connected with the government's web hosting service.

In a letter forwarded to the Tribune by the Office of His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I, the security firm detailed how they detected the upload of files in the "illegal spectrum" on 17th May at 00:20:09 GMT, and "removed the illegal content", blocking those responsible by changing the ciphers of the Web Portal. However, the letter did not specify when the breach was detected, leaving open the possibility that intruders had access to sensitive information for up to seven days, with illegal information being uploaded during that time. While it is unclear what this information was, investigators suspect that it may have been related to financial crime, judging by its storage location on the server.

When we spoke with the King, he was audibly upset at such an unacceptable security breach. "It seems unconscionable that felons would have had complete access to the Central Bank for such a long time without it being detected by the contracted security services. I feel this is a complete and utter failure on their part, and begs the question as to whether we should be contracting our web security out to such amateurs." His Sovereign Majesty went on to explain that he would like to see new legislation put in place to reinforce informational security, once Parliament is convened. "I will be issuing a temporary Decree in the coming days, to the effect that ciphers for sensitive materials must be changed regularly, and security should be handled by professional Kemetian security services, rather than foreign agents. I shall also be establishing a Commission to investigate this grievous breach in security" This legislation would be the first on information security in Kemetian history, as is expected to constitute a Ministry for its handling.

The Tribune is currently waiting for a response from the independent security firm and hosting company on this matter, and shall report on our findings as soon as we receive a response.

A response has been received from the security firm and hosting company. No details have been given about when the breach was detected, nor as to who the perpetrators were. It is clear, however, that "malicious scripts" were uploaded to the server of the Central Bank of Kemetia.

Lack of International Response to South Sudan Invasion a "farce"

23/05/2011--CHICAGO--In comments made to the Kemetia Tribune within the last few hours, His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I of Kemetia has called the international response to the Sudanese armed incursion and take-over of the town of Abyei "a complete and utter farce" and that words and condemnations did not go far enough to reproach the Sudanese forces for their act of aggression against South Sudan.

While Sudan claims that the incursion and subsequent takeover was a defensive response to a raid conducted by South Sudanese troops on Thursday, which the King strongly condemned as an obstacle to peace, His Sovereign Majesty explained that "the government of the North is clearly using one terrible incident to justify a disproportionate and crushing response."

The Kemetian Government has been engaged in communications with the Government of South Sudan since early 2011, although bilateral relations have not been established, and nor did the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seem optimistic about establishing relations when asked by the Tribune earlier today. "We are not being received warmly by the new Sudan", said a Ministry official, who declined to be named. The King did not comment extensively on relations, saying only that the untimely receiving of messages had been a problem when dealing with South Sudan.

Nevertheless, His Sovereign Majesty reiterated his commitment to preserving peace in the region, and allowing for the democratic self-determination of the South Sudanese. "It is absolutely imperative that this atrocious action not be allowed to derail the referendum and scheduled independence of South Sudan. All nations should oppose the North Sudanese invasion strongly, and with further punitive measures, if necessary," said King Adam I.

During his talk with the Tribune, His Sovereign Majesty was also pushed for answers as to why the Government had not conducted parliamentary elections yet, a problem which has become a rather serious issue for the King and the Lloyd-Davies Administration. "It is not for me to direct the electoral process of the nation," he explained, saying that it was "up to the elected government of the day and the Electoral Commission to come to an agreement about the timing for our first parliamentary elections under the 2010 Constitution." The Electoral Commission had previously stated that elections were to be held on 14th May, but has since delayed them until mid-June. The Tribune was not able to reach the Commission for comment.

Government Condemns Actions of Syria

01/05/2011--FIRST CITY--Members of the Government of His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I of Kemetia condemned the activities of the Syrian Government today, in a letter signed by the Government given to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations. The OHCHR has declined to comment on the letter, but has acknowledged its receipt.

The contents of the letter are published below for the benefit of the public and nation.

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is the considered opinion of the His Sovereign Majesty’s Government of the Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia that the current activities of the Syrian Government against legitimate opposition are unacceptable, and should swiftly be dealt with in a meaningful manner by the international community and the respective bodies of the United Nations.

We welcome the OHCHR efforts to voice the outrage of the international community, but we believe that a concerted effort must be made to compel the Syrian Government to allow for peaceful protest, and uphold the conventions that they are legally party to. The United Nations must stand for more than simply its constituent countries; it must stand for humanity itself, and the all-encompassing spirit of personhood, which transcends national boundaries and petty borders. Thus, it is imperative that all Syrian Government officials know the pain of transgressing upon the rights of Humankind, as it is only just that the suffering of the Syrian People rebound upon the Perpetrators of this madness.

We implore your organization to outright condemn the actions of the Syrian Government and uphold the principles for which your organization was founded. There is nothing incorrect about interfering in what appear to be internal affairs of nations that have actively opted to become part of the international community. Syria is a member of the United Nations, and as such, should be forced to be bound by the constraints of the organization.

08/01/10--CHICAGO--The nation celebrated its annual Emperor Norton I Day this evening, with a private gathering at the Kemetian Consulate in Chicago. Many of Kemetia's most notable citizens were in attendance, including Students for the Advancement of Kemetia's President Alexander Cole, Attorney General Jacqueline Trudeau, and His Sovereign Majesty the King himself (left).

During the evening, the King delivered an address to the assembled crowd, in which he praised Emperor Norton, Students for the Advancement of Kemetia and all citizen's commitment to personal democracy and cooperation. His Sovereign Majesty also announced the creation of an Order of Knighthood, the Order of the Sovereign (OS), to be given by the Monarch each year during Emperor Norton Day. This year's recipients included the Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies, former Finance Minister

Arran Marais-Gilchrist and SAK President Alexander Cole. Only Mr. Cole was present to accept his honor. Neither Lloyd-Davies nor Marais-Gilchrist have formally acknowledged or accepted the honor.

Student Organization Moves Forward

12/12/10--CHICAGO--Last week, on December 9th, the Committee on Recognized Student Organizations (CORSO) at the University of Chicago official approved Students for the Advancement of Kemetia, the Tribune has learned. The news was followed by a small gathering of Kemetians and interested parties at the apartments of the organization's President, Alexander Cole.

While Mr. Cole has been unavailable for comment, His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I says he is "thrilled and optimistic" about the news. "This is certainly a modern and most correct decision [on the part of CORSO]. Anything less would have been quite improper and discriminatory, but we have clearly seen here the progressive attitude to Kemetia and our national expression by the University and it's institutions."

The King, who is currently visiting with the Royal Family at his Ranch, has revealed to the Tribune that recognition was not at first given to the organization. "We were most dismayed to find out that, initially, CORSO had rejected our bid for recognition, which we had certainly not anticipated." The King explained that he did not feel such a rejection was warranted. The decision was quickly appealed, however, and during the process His Sovereign Majesty and President Cole were well received. Concern was raised about the ties between the country and the student organization, which the King addressed to the satisfaction of the committee. He is very pleased that all turned out for the best and hopes that Students for the Advancement of Kemetia serves to benefit the University with discussions and events tailored to Kemetian and student needs.

Also within this discussion, His Sovereign Majesty confirmed that elections were slated for mid-January and he hoped that a cabinet could be formed soon after. Several new ministerial faces are expected, with Ms. Kathleen Cawley, the current Secretary and Recruitment Chair of Students for Advancement of Kemetia, expressing her interest in becoming Minister for the Environment, and thus replacing Minister Jack Finch. Minister Arran Marais-Gilchrist is also expected to retire in his capacity as Finance Minister, which he has held since 2005, though will still retain his position as Chairman of the Liberal Party. It is unclear whether Minister Finch or Minister Marais-Gilchrist will run in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Student Organization Formed

16/11/10--CHICAGO--It has been announced today that a student organization for supporting Kemetian students and their friends has been provisionally established at the University of Chicago in the United States. Students for the Advancement of Kemetia, as the organization is called, will help in "raising awareness within student bodies around the world of Secessionism and the issues surrounding it, as well as help us support our citizens and allies, who may be far from home and in need of a familiar community", said Alexander Cole, President of Students for the Advancement of Kemetia.

Students for the Advancement of Kemetia is currently not fully registered with the University of Chicago, still pending approval by the Committee on Recognized Student Organizations, although approval is expected to be given by the end of December. Until such a time, Students for the Advancement of Kemetia shall continue to operate normally, but without financial support from University institutions.

The King, who is also the Honorary Chairman of Students for the Advancement of Kemetia, has expressed his hopes for the organization, saying that he envisions multiple organizations and unions across the world and in all major universities. "It is my firm belief that through fostering dialog and understanding within institutions of higher learning worldwide, we can achieve an international victory for the Secessionist Movement. Students bring something vibrant and novel to Kemetian society, presenting ideas and projects that have real potential and promise", said His Sovereign Majesty to the Tribune earlier today.

Pledge of Loyalty Decree Issued

12/10/10--CHICAGO--Last night, His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I and the President of the Electoral Commission Dexter O'Connell signed a Decree to temporarily lay out the details of the Pledge of Loyalty mentioned in the 2010 Constitution. The need for the Decree, said the King, was accentuated by the recent random selection of several Supreme Constitutional Court Justices, none of whom could accept office until the Pledge had been written. He stressed the temporary nature of the measure, which is standing in for an Act of Parliament, tabled to be considered by the body after its election, which is tentatively scheduled in November.

(A Temporary Measures for the Affirmation of Constitutional Office Holders)

ARTICLE 1:

In His wisdom and benevolence, His Sovereign Majesty sees it fit to publish this Decree on this day, the Eleventh of October, Two Thousand and Ten, pertaining to the Pledge of Loyalty of the Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia as outlined in Article 22, Section 4 of the 2010 Constitution, in the absence of any other legitimate political bodies to make the necessary measures.

ARTICLE 2:

The Pledge of Loyalty shall be as follows:

I [NAME], do solemnly affirm to follow and uphold the Constitution of the Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia and the laws that emanate from it, and to perform the office of [OFFICE] which the people have conferred upon me with loyalty and patriotism, in all actions looking after the good and prosperity of the Kingdom; and if I do not fulfil these obligations, may the Nation demand it of me.

(a). Members of the Judiciary shall continue the Pledge with the following section:

I further Affirm that I will never manipulate the law or further injustice for kinship, relation by marriage, friendship, envy, ill-will, or fear, nor for bribes or gifts, or any other cause in whatever guise it may appear; nor will I declare guilty one who is innocent, or innocent one who is guilty. I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and swear that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me without fear, favour, or prejudice as [TITLE] under the Constitution and laws of the Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia.

(b). Members of Parliament shall continue the Pledge with the following section:

I do solemnly and sincerely swear before the people of the whole country that I will preserve, defend and uphold the Constitution, faithfully perform my duties, promote the welfare of the people, safeguard the security of the Kingdom, sustain the union, the integrity and the independence of Kemetia, and in no way betray the people's trust. Should I break my oath, I shall be willing to submit myself to severe punishment by the State. This is my solemn oath.

ARTICLE 3:

This Decree shall be effective immediately upon signing and shall remain in effect until the contents can be considered by Parliament. Upon the election of Parliament, its first order of business shall be the consideration of this Decree’s contents as a possible Act of Parliament.

Democracy Day 2010

30/09/10--CHICAGO--In celebration of Democracy Day, which marks the establishment of democracy in Kemetia by His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I, the King released the following remarks and encouraged all citizens to exercise their rights as fundamentally free individuals:

Five years ago, democracy entered the Kemetian political scene with the disbandment of the necessary Secessionist Command Council, and the calling of the first democratic elections in our nation's history. While the road to absolute democracy is a hard one, with many perils along the way, I believe we have made significant progress since the dark days of one-party rule under the De Groot regime, and even more progress regarding the Constitution, which is now fully accepted as the law of the land.

My government has been implementing the changes outlined in the 2010 Constitution slowly, consistently, and carefully, so as to allow the former institutions of the State time to adjust to the new atmosphere of freedom and political openness. The Supreme Constitutional Court has been partially selected by the Electoral Commission, and this process is due to be completed in the next few weeks, with the five new Justices receiving their bound copy of the Constitution for their guardianship. After this, it is my hope that the Advisory Council and Senate will be elected quickly, so as to allow the People voice in their government.

Democracy must be a cherished ideology of our country; not because I say it should be, or the Prime Minister believes it to be so, but because it is the right of every human to choose their destiny and government--it is something innate, something worth all our effort to protect. We shall not rest until democracy in Kemetia becomes an example which all countries will follow, for once we unite the world under a democratic system, the need for Kings and Nobles will fall to dust: we shall all be Human Citizens--perhaps the most important and overarching citizenship of all.

King Condemns Examination Boards

23/08/10--CHICAGO--His Sovereign Majesty King Adam I released this statement today regarding the educational system of Kemetia and the wider world. In it, he outlined his plan for a comprehensive educative experience and the destruction of examining bodies:

It has come Our attention that most of the world has been deceived and misled into believing that examinations, good grades and final tests are the only purpose of educational institutions, creating a climate of administration and bureaucracy, insidiously corrupting our youth and the children of the world.

That an entire child's future be based upon results acquired through testing is a preposterous notion, born of the reactionary and bureaucratic world powers who seek to pigeonhole individuals, thereby making them easier to control. This dulls the minds of our young, and engenders a senseless automation of knowledge, crushing the Spirit of Youth and bludgeoning creativity, open-mindedness and freedom to a bloody pulp.

But, worse even than this, is the blatant and gluttonous attitudes of the examination bodies themselves, which seek only to increase their own profits, corner markets and treat students as if they were exploitable. The College Board of the United States, a not-for-profit, made a shocking $582.9 million in 2006, but spent only $527.8 million, reserving $55.1 million for its own purposes. Twelve of its top-level positions are paid $300,000 a year. Bear in mind that the organization claims to be a not-for-profit, and yet pays its executives hundreds of thousands of dollars. Reform is obviously necessary. Testing must become more affordable and less prevalent.

Edexcel of the United Kingdom also shows that these organizations are immoral behemoths. Edexcel has routinely failed to report mistakes in exam papers, even when it knew such mistakes existed. When revealed, Edexcel did nothing, preferring to give credit those who had the faulty papers. Whether or not this credit was given is beside the point: this dishonesty is indicative of such corrupt cartels—if such fraudulence exists in this matter, is not the entire legitimacy of the enterprise in question?

It becomes clear after reviewing only two of these bodies that there is an inherent flaw in the system: the examinations themselves. To assess children based on one paper, or one exam rather than their development is a travesty, and while it serves most governments well, it will not be the policy in this country.

I urge the Government to form a plan for comprehensive education based on holistic and enriching principles. I call for emphasis to be placed on the individual experience of learning, rather than the class experience of testing. It is my belief that a programme, which combines practical application with intellectual pursuit, will result in a People worthy of the world. We should give our children and all children the world, for we are but custodians and a transient part of a much greater whole.

The Kemetian People shall prevail and, united in our effort to reform our nation, shall reform the planet.

Constitution Passed, Approval High

25/04/10--FIRST CITY--After a long delay, His Sovereign Majesty's Office officially announced the preliminary results of the Referendum on the Adoption of the Constitution as well as the general impression gained from an opinion poll attached to the ballot measuring the public's approval of the King.

The Constitution was passed with a large majority voting to make the document law. His Sovereign Majesty's approval ratings were also said to be extremely high, with no votes reflecting approval beneath 'Average' and most located in the upper range. His Sovereign Majesty's office has been criticised by a section of the citizenry for withholding the Referendum and approval results, although a spokesperson from the Office called these accusations 'groundless.'

The Electoral Commission has not yet published the voting figures from the referendum, although they are expected within the next few days.

12/04/10--FIRST CITY--Frustration has been apparent after the promised referendum date came and went on Saturday without any ballots being distributed. The Electoral Commission has apologized sincerely for the delays and now expects the referendum to be conducted today, 12th April 2010, now that the security systems have been verified to properly prevent fraud. The Electoral Commission has also announced their intention to include a second question on the ballot, about the effectiveness of the Monarch over the past year.

Opposition leaders have suggested that King Adam I may have been stalling the referendum in order to convince the Commission not to include the second question on his governance. However, we are assured by independent observers that this is a baseless statement and that the King has been active in pushing for these measures.

"It had always been my intention to allow the People to have regular input on the configuration of their government and its performance. It seems only fair that I be evaluated alongside the elected government" said the King this afternoon from his office, who seemed convinced that the People would continue to support the Monarchy.

Hardliners affiliated with the Monarchy, and especially in the military, have expressed their doubts about the second question. Many have seen it as a direct challenge to traditional rule and fear that His Sovereign Majesty's confidence in popular governance may have been misplaced. "This is very worrying indeed. It certainly is not the People's place to pass judgments on the Monarch!" said an Court official, who declined to be named.

It is hoped that this Monday's referendum is a valid reflection of the popular will, with most pollsters projecting broad support for both measures.

First Comments on the Constitution Submitted

06/02/10--FIRST CITY--The first comments submitted to the Constitutional Drafting Committee by its members were made public today, in an official statement from Committee. Both Francis Nicholson and His Sovereign Majesty King Adam contributed separate Comment Documents to the Committee repository for later review. While the contents of the Documents cannot be made public until all Comments are submitted, the Committee released brief statements outlining the positions of the two members.

Mr. Nicholson, one of the Founders of the Nation and Chair of the Anarchist Alliance Party, made stark observations and suggested a complete overhaul of the entire Constitution, viewing many of its provisions as unnecessary and long-winded. Mr. Nicholson has advocated a less centralized system in the past, as well as placing the instruments of so-called 'state-violence' in the hands of the government, in order to protect the populace. His Anarchist Alliance Party has been absent from elections since 2006, and many suspect that he may re-enter the political scene after the new Constitution is promulgated.

His Sovereign Majesty King Adam did not submit extensive comments, partly because of his pivotal and influential role in shaping the document in question. He did suggest, however, that the original judicial organ of government named the Curia of Founders be renamed the Constitutional Court and its role redefined to allow for the random selection of sitting members for five-year terms from among the eminent jurists of the nation. King concludes national tour

During his tour, the King met with senior figures, including the Prime Minister, and discussed plans for the new governing structure, constitutional composition and cabinet make-up.

The Prime Minister met His Sovereign Majesty in London, where a multiparty and inclusive National Cabinet was proposed by the King. The Cabinet is said, by sources close to the King, to be representative of a broad spectrum of interests across the Kingdom and contains a 'fair number of new faces,' said the source. Prime Minister Lloyd-Davies also instituted the establishment of a Carbon Commission, to forward the environmentally sound policies of the government. His Sovereign Majesty also met with Minister for the Environment Thomas Elwes to talk of further measures to increase the efficiency of environmental policy.

Prime Ministerial Election Results 2009

13/12/09--FIRST CITY--Results are in for the 2009 Prime Ministerial Elections, with Lloyd-Davies of the Liberal Party taking the Prime Minister's post for the fourth time in Kemetian history. Lloyd-Davies and the Liberal Party were said to be very pleased with the result, saying that it showed how successful and popular their governing policies were, and that they would take the victory as a mandate to continue governing in their current fashion.

The Electoral Commission handed His Sovereign Majesty's government three copies of the Election Certificate, certifying that the Commission had found no irregularities during polling, the validity of this enforced by the President of the Commission, Dexter O'Connell's, status as a international observer, not being a holder of Kemetian citizenship.

The final results were as follows:

Lloyd-Davies (Liberal Party)--77.5%

Peery (Liberal Socialist Party)--10%

Muusz ('David' List Write-In Candidate)--5%

Spoiled Ballots--7.5%

The entrance of new citizen David Muusz into the race was last minute, being a write-in candidate added to ballots towards the end of voting in an unorthodox move approved by the Commission.

Peery has yet to comment on her defeat, but is said to be upbeat about the prospect of working with the government.

Currently, there is talk that a new Democratic Constitution will be unveiled by the new year, curtailing authoritarian powers and increasing the popular voice. This would replace the currently suspended Permanent Constitution of 2007, significantly reducing its 150 articles to around only 35.

01/12/09--FIRST CITY--Voting began today at midnight throughout Kemetia with a bustle to the online polls, as well as to hear the Prime Ministerial Debate between incumbent Jolyon Lloyd-Davies of the Liberal Party and Shawnteal Peery of the Liberal Socialist Party, which can be heard through Kemetian Public Radio. Most observers and officials are very pleased about the polling process.

“The current polling situation in Kemetia seems to be one of fair and free voting, but we will judge the election on its merits once all the votes are cast”, said Dexter O’Connell, Chair of the American-Kemetian Public Affairs Committee and an independent member of the Royal Kemetian Electoral Commission, as he is not a holder of Kemetian citizenship.

Other members of the Commission, most notably Jacqueline Trudeau, Attorney General to His Sovereign Majesty’s Government, commented that “His Sovereign Majesty has certainly made an exceptional effort in ensuring the transparency of the election this year, as well as notable steps in increasing the information about candidates to all interested parties.”

Debate but no Date

28/11/09--FIRST CITY/CHICAGO--In the final few hours before the 2009 Prime Ministerial election, the candidates have been winding up their campaigns and preparing for the vote. Neither Peery nor Lloyd-Davies have stated whether the polls commissioned by their parties suggest victory or defeat, but many analysts believe that a coalition government will be necessary for the correct functioning of democracy. 'It just makes good sense' said a senior analyst working for the Royal Family on Parliamentary and Democratic Affairs. 'Coalitions are usually weak, but I'm sure Lloyd-Davies will be able to weld together the various factions in order to help the country unite rather than divide on partisan lines'. said the analyst, who refused to reveal their identity for fear that his favoritism towards the Liberal Party would put his non-partisan position in jeopardy.

Candidates and citizens have also eagerly been waiting for the broadcast of the Prime Ministerial Debate, which official occurred Tuesday, but has not been released due to editing issues. It will be hoped that the debate will be released before the election, and the Electoral Commission has suggested that, in the spirit of fairness, the election may be delayed until after the broadcast to give citizens a chance to evaluate the candidates in an independent atmosphere. However, at this time, no broadcast date has been set and the elections are scheduled to proceed on time on 1st December.

Liberal Socialist Party declares candidate

09/11/09--CHICAGO--As campaigning for the Prime Ministerial election 2009 continues from the Liberal Party, a challenger has appeared in the Liberal Socialist Party headed by the newly immigrated Shawnteal Peery. The new party says it wishes to focus on furthering a socialist economic policy while pursuing a libertarian social stance. While the new party has sought to differentiate itself from Lloyd-Davies Liberal Party, its policies are in keeping with the mainstream status-quo politics of Kemetia.

When questioned by the Tribune about any concerns regarding the veracity of the election results, Peery seemed free of worry. 'The elections will be as fair as humanly possible' she stated, adding that His Sovereign Majesty's temporary online election solution to vote rigging was 'a wise one'. She is said to be honoured that her candidacy has been accepted, and will be working closely with current government officials regardless of the election results.

If elected, Ms. Peery will be the first female and black Kemetian to hold the post. 'I am delighted that I have been given the opportunity to make history in this way and hope that even if I do not win, that [my actions will] pave the way for more female government officials in Kemetia and encourage more women to strive for high government positions.' Historically, Kemetia has always had a very high number of female officials, with up to six women holding cabinet level positions at one time. If Peery does win this election, a glass ceiling will certainly have been shattered, opening the Prime Ministry to women as well as minorities.

One of the key issues of the upcoming election is electoral reform, and His Sovereign Majesty has commented that this is an 'election about elections.' With the Lloyd-Davies plan for an electoral college already on the table, the Liberal Socialists have yet to fully outline a rebuttal, but Ms. Peery has commented that she believes 'any measures that could be taken to make sure that every vote counts are necessary.' However, this seems a vague statement, and it is unclear as to how implementation would go ahead.

The Liberal Party Begins its 2009 Election Campaign

I also hope to address the unfounded accusations which have been made regarding the legitimacy of previous elections, and of recent centralisation measures. In order to silence the reactionary agitators responsible for these untruths, I have taken every measure to ensure that the 2009 Prime Ministerial Elections will be the most transparent in our country's history. After intense discussion with His Sovereign Majesty King Adam, it has been agreed that voting will take place online, via Kemetia's Facebook page. This will allow greater security than previous mechanisms, as well as demonstrating my government's commitment to the role "new media" resources will play in our nation's future. Additionally, I am pleased to confirm that the Liberal Party will be making electoral reform a cornerstone of our 2009 campaign; should I be elected once more to the role of Prime Minister, I shall be introducing an "electoral college" system, which would allow for greater representation of our nation's diversity, without undermining the practicality of government. The speech was greeted enthusiastically by government supporters, including Liberal Party's own publication, The Future. However, the Prime Minister's opponents have remained unconvinced. In an interview with The Kemetia Tribune, one senior opposition figure claimed that "Lloyd-Davies's speech rings hollow to those of us who've witnessed his autocratic style of government in recent years". It is understood by the Tribune that some opposition figures are considering standing for election as a coalition, in the hope of preventing another Liberal Party victory. Campaigning Begins

01/11/09--FIRST CITY--Campaigning opened today in Kemetia for this year's Prime Ministerial elections which, despite the suspension of the constitution, will go ahead based on commonly established practices from the time of the Great Secession. Campaigning is set to run from November 1st to November 25th, with the election commencing on December 1st, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm GMT.

So far, only one party has declared its candidate for the election, the Liberal Party of Prime Minister and Regent Jolyon Lloyd-Davies. While the campaigning process is still in the early stages, His Sovereign Majesty has expressed hopes that other parties would emerge to compete for the top position, the lack of which the King puts down to disenchantment due to the enormous sway the current Prime Minister has always held over the political system. 'People should not be afraid to run due to a perception of impossibility. Kemetia has always striven to operate by democratic principles, and this election is no exception,' said the King in a teleconference this evening.

However, many outspoken critics have voiced their concerns that the election would be marred by fraud and unconstitutionality, due the the constitutional suspension of the preceding months. His Sovereign Majesty has been heavily criticised in the past for being unpredictable with regard to election laws, with up to five differing pieces of electoral legislation being in effect at once, leading to confusion and accusations of deceit. His Sovereign Majesty has always disregarded these critics and urged them to produce 'solid, unconditional proof' when questioned on the subject in September.

In response to this, Lloyd-Davies has made one of his primary platforms electoral reform, and vows to introduce an 'electoral college' which would fairly represent all the provinces and peoples of the Kingdom, and allow for a simple and effective electoral system.

While its composition is yet to be formally declared, Sir Nicholas Kelly is likely to include current members of the government, in a good-will gesture to his colleagues.

'It is in are interest to construct a strong and positive relationship with the Americas, and expand our peaceful presence in the region' said the King, speaking from his Chicago offices today.

While Kemetian analysts have interpreted his comments as generally promoting a peaceful and lasting relationship with the American continents, some foreign commentators have been skeptical, saying his remarks are typical of the increasingly aggressive and expansionist stance of the government during recent months. While His Sovereign Majesty has assured the Tribune that these criticisms are baseless, this news outlet will support the right, generously granted by the Most Magnificent Leader, of people to free and open speech and criticism.

Further questions were posed late yesterday, when the King consulted with Prime Minister Lloyd-Davies for the first time in many weeks on a secret channel from his offices. It is suspected that the Prime Minister may join the King in the Americas to promote peaceful secession and development of small nations, but the Prime Ministry has declined to comment on the matter.

In other news, there has been debate within the local communities of Kemetia as to the vast reduction in political representation over the past month. Well-known agitators have stirred up issues in some northern provinces, but as yet, no civil disturbances have been reported. In March 2008, election results were published and, unsurprisingly, Mr. Lloyd-Davies was re-elected to the Prime Ministry. After threats were levelled against the Monarchy by the Opposition for what they called ‘blatant tolerance of a virtual dictatorship’, the Sovereign became wary of publishing anything pertaining to His whereabouts or political moves, thinking it best to weather the storm than try to stop it. This also included a blanket media blackout throughout the Kingdom as well as the decommission of the National Web Portal.

His Sovereign Majesty left the Kingdom on a four-year campaign in the New World for supporters to His cause and the Secessionist movement. The King stated in a letter that he is ‘currently situated in the Great Lakes region and invites the Kemetia Tribune to start republishing at its own discretion.’

It has been too long that I have been separated from my Children, the Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia. Contact must be re-established between your representatives in the Government and My office in order for us to have a consultative and due process governing such a grand institution as the Secessionist State. Therefore, in order to realise these important tasks, We have decided that it be prudent and correct to issue this Decree pertaining to a New World to be established under My authoritative and judicious leadership after viewing and learning from this Campaign upon the New World which I have taken. In order to curb elements that are both treacherous and insidious, we must do perform three missions: expansion, consolidation, and centralisation, as shall be laid out in the following Decree.

Article I: Expansion
The Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia has existed for four years. Four more years of existence must be assured, as should the eternal future of the nation and dynasty. Expansion shall ensure this. Due to the findings of the Pan-Kemetian Irredentic Commission and issuance of the Pax Kemetica Decree, to maintain territorial integrity, areas of Kemetian influence in East Hampshire were integrated into the nation, and the Kingdom has rapidly expanded, encompassing a large area in the South of England. This area now includes the East Hampshire District, the Borough of Basingstoke and Deane, the City of Winchester, the Hart District, and the Borough of Havant. This area shall be maintained as the core territory of the Kingdom, with the periphery continuing to exist of those areas incorporated overseas.

Article II: Consolidation
In order to preserve the harmonious balance within the political sphere of the nation, His Sovereign Majesty, in his wisdom, decides unequivocally to reform the national system to better suit his overseas governance. Forthwith, the Final Constitution is indefinitely suspended, with this action being approved by the Consultative Assembly, also forthwith dissolved to be replaced with a National Government of Harmonious Rule. The components of this Government shall be as follows: an executive made up of a Royal and Citizen Command selected by His Sovereign Majesty and a legislative branch made up of 5 members, selected by a popular vote of the Royal and Citizen Command making up a Advisory Senate. There operation shall be outlined in the next article.

Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Prince Roger and Grand Princess Joyce, and Her Royal Highness Princess Katherine accompanied His Sovereign Majesty to the College, from which His Royal Highness the Grand Prince graduated. The delegation was greeted by the President of the College, who was most kind towards them, inviting them to come to his house and talk of the developments that have occured at the College and what the future may hold.

That evening, a supper was held in the Ship's Lantern Inn, in which Dr. Russell's family formally welcomed the Royals. After this, the family retired to quarters in the nearby town.

The King, in a letter today to the Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, expressed his solidarity with the Scottish people and expressed his hopes for a more independent Scotland in the future. The King spent the morning arranging for the publication of several Royal Decrees which he hopes will improve the lives of Kemetians throughout the Kingdom. His Sovereign Majesty's office set a release date of 31st October for their publication and we eagerly await their contents.

Around Kemetia
In response to the outrageous measures that have been proposed by the British government to cull badgers, the Ministry of the Interior has declared Kemetian territories to be 'safe zones' for the animals. Anyone found to be guilty of the unlawful killing of badgers within the Kingdom shall be fined the weight of the animal in silver.

His Sovereign Majesty has suggested a State of Emergency be temporarily assumed in Kemetia's North American Provinces until the rampant fires afflicting the California area are contained. So far, no Kemetian citizens have been hurt in the incidences.

The King publicly urged caution in the escalating conflict between Turkey and the Kurdish secessionist movement the PKK. His Sovereign Majesty condemned the recent violence and called for a peaceful resolution to be adopted.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown once again curtailed the freedoms of the British people today by denying them a referendum of the new EU treaty. On Friday His Sovereign Majesty met with Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies and Finance Minister Arran Marais-Gilchrist to discuss the growing popularity of the Kingdom worldwide and how best to use this for the good of all Kemetians.

His Excellency the Prime Minister alerted His Sovereign Majesty to letters and petitions that had come to his office from Kemetian citizens resident in the Indonesian area requesting government endorsement of possible rallies and protests. His Sovereign Majesty was said to be extremely enthusiastic about the prospect, but cautioned that all protests should be non-violent, peaceful and abide by the laws of the nations in which they are occurring. Though the Prime Minister's Office declined to comment on the current situation, Finance Minister Marais-Gilchrist did not embrace the idea, saying that 'it has the potential to be used by negative forces to the detriment of the nation.'

Meanwhile, the King delivered an official letter to the Prime Minister for the formation of a more extensive Cabinet. As a subject of high sensitivity, the Prime Minister's Office understandably did not respond to requests for more information, but His Sovereign Majesty said that he believes that 'the new Cabinet fully represents the wishes of the elected government of the people and of the Royal Court.'

The Birthday of His Sovereign Majesty King Adam, the worlds’ youngest reigning monarch, shall be marked by an outpouring of love and reverence by Kemetian people throughout the kingdom and around the world.

The King has won a special place in the hearts of the Kemetian people through his combination of devotion to the welfare and development of his people, and a keen understanding and awareness of political and social issues. Today, His Sovereign Majesty plays the pivotal role of the embodiment of the Great Secession and Leader of the Nation.

On May 19th, buildings and homes of all Kemetians are elaborately adorned with flags, portraits of His Sovereign Majesty and bunting. Around the Royal Palace of Stonerdale and Royal Road areas of Stonerdale City, much vividly coloured confetti decorates the paths. On the evening of the holiday itself, the roads around Stonerdale City are closed to traffic and many of people take to the streets.

Tonight, the King will enjoy a private banquet with the Royal Family and the following day shall travel to London to visit the newly opened Sacred Exhibition at the British Library. Diplomatic Tour

30/03/07--STONERDALE CITY-- His Majesty King Adam and members of the Royal Family are scheduled to travel to the Hillcrest Province tomorrow and receive a week-long tour of the surrounding United States territories. His Majesty will be announcing the results of the election abroad for the first time on Sunday evening from the Hillcrest Palace. Preliminary figures are in from several polling stations that suggest Prince Ian's National Constitutional Party is leading, possibly meaning the end of Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies 2 year grip on power.

The King will not be meeting with Crown Prince Ian during this journey; however, he is to have meetings with other royal family members arriving Sunday evening and is expected to announce the composition of the Council of the Royal Court, with its members being selected from the Royal Family at the same time as the election results. The Court Advisory Council will then be selected by the Council of the Royal Court.

Various topics that are set to dominate the agenda are the state of the health care system, to be discussed with HRH Princess Joyce, Secretary of Health and Social Services, Ministry of the Interior; agriculture with HRH Prince John, Secretary of Agriculture, Ministry of the Interior, and Secretary Christopher Knoepke of the Department of Corrections, Ministry of Justice about the current prison and rehabilitation system. Other Royal Family members will also be consulted as to the position they wish to occupy in the future.

On Monday night, His Majesty will be attending a private Passover ceremony of the Royal Family. Although the King strongly promotes the secular nature of the government, he says he will still exercise his and his families' right to worship as they wish.

Election 07 Finalised

18/03/07--STONERDALE CITY-- His Majesty has announced that elections for Prime Minister shall occur on the 25th March after their cancellation in late 2006. The winner shall complete a term until December 1st 2007 when a new election shall occur. Parties can continue to be submitted until the 20th March and the election campaign shall run for four days until the ballots are submitted on the 25th.

So far, the National Constitutional Party is the only party confirmed to be in the race. Its Chair Prince Ian has given no comments about how he believes the party will fair in the election. It is expected that the current Prime Minister's party, the Social Democrats, will also run again; however, the party Chair Prime Minister Lloyd-Davies and Marais-Gilchrist of the Liberal Party have been taking part in talks to establish whether their parties may merge under Lloyd-Davies as a possibly Liberal Democratic party with Socialist sympathies. Whether this works or not Marais-Gilchrist has made it clear that he is not going to run saying that he wishes to focus 'on the development of Kemetia's economic position in Europe.'

Reliable sources also suggest that Jack Finch the Minister of the Interior's Green Party will make an appearance, though he does not expect to win 'more than 3 seats.' Several other small parties who seem to harbour high hopes for many seats and perhaps the Prime Ministry did not mirror this attitude. Sinclair's Imperialist Party was most vocal about the perceived unfairness of the past elections, all won by Mr. Lloyd-Davies.

However, with the definite loss of the Liberal Party, many fear the emergence of a two party system. The Monarchy believes this would be hurtful to our democratic principles, as without a diverse range of parties not all people in society would be represented.

87% Vote Yes for the Permanent Constitution

His Eminence Jack Finch, the Minister for the Interior and His Excellency the Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies, Chair of the Committee on the Composition and Implementation of the Permanent Constitution (CCIPC) said today that 87% of voters in the referendum on the Permanent Constitution voted yes out of an electorate of 128 whereas 13% voted no. His Excellency the Prime Minister said in a statement that the large turnout reflected the magnitude of the response of the Kemetian people to the appeal of His Sovereign Majesty King Adam. His Sovereign Majesty urged citizens to cast their votes with a feeling of responsibility for their future and commended them on their keenness to participate in the referendum and their faithfulness to their leadership. The CCIPC congratulated His Sovereign Majesty the King, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, the Kemetian government, and people on this occasion.

This new Permanent Constitution is seen as a great step forward. Taking into account the concerns of citizens about the Advisory Council, it has been abolished and now a unicameral legislative branch is in operation. Four days ago, His Sovereign Majesty was given the unexpected advice by the military and the Advisory Council to postpone the General Elections until late January. This is partly in response to fears among these institutions that the General Elections would be used as an excuse to stage a popular rebellion by anti-Secessionist elements that may exist inside the population. Intelligence suggested that these forces would become active in undermining the government during the December month when the Parliament was not in session and while most officials are taking the winter off. A minority of MPs has been angry at the postponement and believes it to be another sign of the increasing influence of the military and the King's advisors on policy. It could be noted that since the initial planning stages of a rebellion have been uncovered these MPs are not being particularly supportive of the democratically elected government of Kemetia and may do well to reaffirm their loyalty. However, the Cabinet seemed satisfied with the Intelligence and Prime Minister Lloyd-Davies will remain the Head of Government until the election in late February. Monarch Proclaims clean-up of Cabinet

11/10/06--STONERDALE CITY-- Today, the King made a surprise proclamation of what has been termed a 'clean-up' of the Cabinet. Apparently in the planning for some time, His Majesty and the Prime Minister have apparently made a scheme to increase the number of government posts to better facilitate the new influx in citizenry.

'To accommodate the needs of our increasing population, we must expand the Government. This means that more officials will be needed, but this will in turn allow for better administration of the nation.' He went on to reveal that a new Government Web Portal is under construction which will allow for a better democratic process. He also stated that he was currently exploring the possibility of trade and a treaty with the Principality of Byzantia.

Kemetia Featured in Several Publications

Today, and over past week, Kemetia has featured in many pieces of literature. The Lonely Planet Micronations: A Guide to Self-Proclaimed Nations was published and features a 4-page spread on the Kingdom. All citizens are urged to buy a copy. A book launch is being organized by the government to be hosted by Kemetia which will include speeches, book signings and ultimately the signing of the United Micronations Organization Treaty (UMOT) between ourselves and many other nations who will send delegations to the event.

Kemetia was also mentioned in the Guardian Unlimited story on the publication of the book. Are Magnanimous Sovereign, His Majesty King Adam will also be featured in an interview with the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter shortly (which will be reported on when published).

6/08/2006-- KEMETIA SPRINGS--

Today, King Adam returned from the Kemetia Springs Province after a short visit to the area and talks with Crown Prince Ian, Minister of Justice Jon Paul Medved and other high ranking members of the government and Royal Family who reside there.

The meetings concentrated on current parliamentary power blocs, defense, justice, agriculture, and royal affairs of state.

Crown Prince Ian reiterated his commitment to government stability and defense saying that "the current situation in the Parliament must be solved to combat any future problems that may be encountered due to a split of ideas between it's members. We must unite to fight the greater threats from the outside."

The "split of ideas" refers to the small conflict that occurred between Crown Prince Ian's party the NDP and Prime Minister Lloyd-Davies party the SDP over the Middle East conflict. It is unclear what the "threats from the outside" are, but it is clear that in his capacity as Defence Minister, Prince Ian had lengthy talks with the King and his staff that resulted in increased funding being diverted to the Defence and Justice Ministries. It is thought that the MoD is preparing for any eventualities that may occur due to the aggressive stance on National and International Security of the King of late.

Minister Medved was also given permission to found the Committee on Un-Kemetian Activities to help fight dangerous terrorist and foreign influences that have infiltrated the country lately. His and Prince Ian's commitment to fighting enemy forces at work inside Kemetia has been admirable and much praise should be bestowed upon them.

Later in the tour, King Adam appointed a Commander of the Air Force, but details remain undisclosed for the time being. He will be confirmed at a later date.

The tour also included the reappointment of the Head of the Olympic Committee Christopher Knoepke, who had been deposed earlier that year.

Meeting and celebration were also held with Prince John and Princess's Jan and Meredith. Agriculture is also confirmed as "running smoothly" by Prince John after the hops shortage of late 05 in which hops production was seriously effected by drought.

A celebratory raft ride was also undertaken by the King and his family (and staff) which was much enjoyed by all.

A Heated Exchange

A heated exchange has occured between Prime Minister Lloyd-Davies and High Vizier Prince Ian over the issue of the current situation in the Middle East. The dissagreement happened when a communication intended for the Sovereign King about the state of foreign affairs was routed to all government officials due to an error on the Kemetian Telecomunication Network (which has since been resolved).

The text of the communication has not been disclosed, but it appears that in an unofficial capacity, the Prime Minister complained of the pro-Israel stance of the government in a way that would be generally thought of as unfitting for someone of his position. In a telephone conversation, His Majesty informed the Prime Minister of his views and of the fact that the communication had been sent on to all in the government.

When the High Vizier Prince Ian received the communication, he was outraged at the informal and somewhat "sparring" language of the Prime Minister and wrote him a formal letter of complaint. Later today, during the sessions of the Royal Parliament, he asked for "a vote of No Confidence in Prime Minister Lloyd-Davies" stating that "his values and judgement have proven to be questionable as of late." A heated debate followed.

The Sovereign King suggest a reconciliation meeting between the Prime Minister and the Crown Prince saying that "If it does come to an impeachment, it would be impossible to impeach the Prime Minister with the Royal Parliament because that would require a 2/3 majority for the motion, which could not be achieved because of the SDP holding too many seats. A case could be brought for high treason, but I seriously doubt the PM has done anything to merit such a trial." He reiterated his government's commitment to peace and justice and pushed for peaceful meetings between the two sides.

Although a favourable outcome has been obtained, this incident has shown that although the two major parties (SDP and NDP) are similar in some respects they can have their differences.

The 4th Constitution

Today, the 4th Constitution of the Sovereign Kingdom of Kemetia was presented before the Royal Parliament for debate, amendments, and approval. The long awaited new constitution will replace the redundant 3rd and hopefully usher in a new era of constitutional law and peace. Certain guarantees of this constitution have never been made in the past and it is believed that the Cabinet has tried to create a document which covers all eventualities in keeping with the liberal policies of the Prime Minister and the King.

Although the document will probably be ratified in early September, it has initially been given a warm reception in the debating chamber and approved by Grand Prince Roger, Deputy Chair of the New Delegation Party.

Constitution Crisis

After reviewing all possibilities, the current constitution has been dissolved and a new one is to be formed.
King Adam was granted Emergency Powers by the Royal Parliament and dissolved the 2nd Constitution. It was deemed too concerned with governance and less with the people. A 3rd Constitution was briefly formed but dissolved after it started to show "command structure weaknesses."
The 4th Constitution is in development and should be completed by the Parliament soon. Meanwhile, the King will retain his Emergency Powers until 8.00 am this morning and then relinquish them to the Parliament.

Land Claim Successful

An expedition has been completed down the River Plym in which a small island was added to the Kingdom.

The as-yet un-named isle was first explored by a team led by the ex-Treasurer Ashley Bray and shortly followed by teams consisting of the Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies and King Adam himself to inspect the claimed land.

Currently, several names are being considered (Braya Isle the most popular at the moment), however it is unclear whether Mr. Bray wishes to have the island named after himself.

The debate over names will continue on the forum, but this is truly a great day for the expansion on the Kingdom.

New Delegation Party- 4 seats- 40%
Social Democratic Party- 4 seats- 40%

Therfore, His Majesty confirms the Social Democratic Party the victors and allows the first official term of Prime Minister Jolyon Lloyd-Davies to commence.

His term will last for a year and the next election shall be conducted in December 2006.

Celebrations

Celebrations are carried out across Kemetia the Holidays. The Royal Holiday Speech shall be given Sunday and its issues shall be fully covered in next Wednesday's issue.
The Grand Bullion Menorah is lit every night for eight days. The Grand Bullion Menorah is a Menorah made of solid gold that has been in the Royal Family for generations. It and other items make up part of the Crown Treasure, which is displayed annually at the Crown Treasure Viewing on March 16th. A Large Christmas Tree was also erected in Imhotep Square. The writers of the Kemetia Tribune would like to wish everyone a Good Holiday and a Happy New Year.

The Tribune will be taking over from the News section on the government site from now on (although that section will still exist for historical purposes).
